Power Play Hockey League is proud to announce the creation of PPHL Pride, a new multifaceted program with the goal of ensuring that “Hockey is for Everyone”. The details and full scope of our program will take shape over the coming months, but we are excited to announce today that PPHL will be sponsoring our new PPHL Pride Team as it travels to various LGBTQ+ and LGBTQ+ friendly tournaments organized across the United States. We also plan to host a series of ‘PPHL Pride Welcome Events’ to share our vision through hockey by hosting organized pick up skates in the NH, MA, and RI areas in the coming months. The PPHL Pride Program will aim to create a safe space for everyone that loves hockey, so that our sport can grow across ALL communities. There will be no bias, no exclusion, and no limits for the PPHL Pride. Please reach out to us if you have any questions or would like more information. Email us at info@powerplayhockey.com

The PPHL offers multiple Divisions and we want all players to understand the expectations and recommended skill levels in order to ensure that everyone can enjoy healthy competition that matches their ability.
The PPHL strives to have comparable skill levels in all divisions. No team should have “ringers” on their roster to help win the PPHL Stanley Keg. We want ALL players to be an equal asset to each team and to win the League by TEAM PLAY, not one or a couple of individuals who do not belong in a certain division. We know that honest mistakes can happen when judging one’s skill level; however, players and/or teams who knowingly or frequently register for leagues below their skill levels can expect to be contacted by the league office with official communication of the steps that will be taken to rectify the situation.
Please help the PPHL and be honest with us and yourself regarding which division is appropriate for you and your team. Below will provide information on each division offered by the PPHL and what skill levels and expectations align with that level. IF you are not sure what level you think you or your team belongs, please contact us by email.
The PPHL is built upon Military and Family values. The Founder of the PPHL, Shawn Connors, is an Army veteran, and did not just make up this motto for the hell of it; there is TRUE meaning behind it all. To find the TRUE meaning of the motto, you need to look into the values of the Army. The United States Army bases their values off of the acronym – ‘LDRSHIP’ (Leadership), and this is the true culture Shawn envisioned for the Power Play Hockey League.
Our current levels (divisions) range from A to D, where an ‘A’ level players are considered ‘professional’ or ‘highly experienced’ through the ‘D’ level player where they are considered ‘beginners’ who have never skated before or in the first three years and still learning as an adult.
All players, regardless of level, are expected to skate within their abilities to help maintain a safe playing environment for everyone on the ice.
‘A’ Division – “Expert”
– – – – – – – – – – – – – –
The ‘A’ division is the elite division that the PPHL has to offer its players. You can expect a fast paced, highly-skilled, and competitive league filled with current and former professionals, NCAA players, and Tier 1 – 3 Junior A Players. Expect the league to be full of energy! Want to be the best? You’ll have to play with the best!
‘B’ Division – “Advanced”
– – – – – – – – – – – – – –
The ‘B’ division is the second highest level that the Power Play Hockey League offers to our players. This league is intended for players that take their hockey seriously and play with a high compete level. Though this may not be the ‘A’, still bring your “A-Game” in the ‘B’ division, as this level is intended for players with experience at the Tier 3 Junior A, B, or C levels, ACHA Collegiate Levels, Midget Major AAA, and Prep/Varsity High School playing experience.
Professional and NCAA Division 1 players are strongly advised not to participate in the PPHL “B” Division.
C’ Division – “Intermediate”
– – – – – – – – – – – – – –
The ‘C’ division has been designed for players who have the basic competence required for good passing, shooting, and positional awareness. More often these players have played their highest level of hockey at the Tier 3 Junior B or C, high school varsity, and lower midget levels. Some players may have limited organized youth playing experience, but have several years of experience as a recreational adult player.
Players that have experience higher than these levels above are strongly advised not to participate in PPHL ‘C’ Division.
‘D’ Division – “Beginner / Novice”
– – – – – – – – – – – – – –
The ‘D’ division is Power Play’s level for beginners and “low experience” players (1-3 total years of experience). Players at the ‘D’ level will be learning the skills of skating, passing, shooting, positional awareness, and rules of the game. In this division you will find players with some organized playing experience (either as an adult or in youth), little or no youth playing experience but have played several years as an adult player, and players that have some non-varsity high school experience but are several years removed from those levels. This is the perfect starting league for new players who want to learn the rules and how the game of hockey is played while playing fun, recreational, and competitive hockey!
This division is intended for new and inexperienced players. We strongly advise players with experience and decent skating skills to not participate in the ‘D’ division.
‘Age Specific Levels’ – “Age Requirement”
– – – – – – – – – – – – – –
Divisions with age specific names (EXAMPLE – ’50 + League’) require the player to be of that specific age or older (Players who will turn the age during that season will be eligible to register). Power Play offers a ’40+ division’ in all locations. Other specific ‘Age’ divisions are only available in select regions – please refer to each region’s “League Info” page to see if offered. We will continue to develop these age-based divisions according to the interest level expressed in each region.
